A guard harasses a fruit vender on Khao Sarn Road, the backpack center of Bangkok. When Bangkok was established in 1782, the center of town was the Grand Palace. Khao Sarn Road, a 20-minute walk from the Palace, was a quiet residential area for two centuries. Today it is a thriving community where anything can and everything does happen.
