OFF TO A BAD START

So it is like this hey. What can a person do? I took the Philsterl to the mechanic doctor and they have deemed the van “unsafe for the road”. They had another body shop take a look and they said of the 1998 GMC Savanna 2500 converted van, “they have never seen such bad rust.” Apparently, the frame holding the body (like the skeleton holding us all up) is so rusted it will not support the frame. So there goes 5400 dollars and my dream to cross Canada in September, October and November.

I spent all day trying to rethink what to do next? What are my options?

a) Try to find another van - problem I have found out is that anything old will need constant repairs. There are plenty of old vans from 1970,80,90s but they may have rust or dry rot, or are ugly brown interiors - or all of the above! Now anything new is far too expensive and is very obvious to anyone. I want something that does not SCREAM - she is living in her van (well except at the camp sit)

b) GIVE UP. Find an apartment, job, apply for my masters.

c) DRIVE MY 2004 Buick Rainer SUV that only has 262,000KM.

d) BUY A NEW SUV like a Dodge Grand Caravan and quickly convert it to the best that I can.

I am still trying to figure it out…will know by end of the week - stay tuned
